Since the Imus-sparked “national dialogue” about misogyny seems to have taken a backseat to the “national dialogue” about race (we are having a national dialogue about race aren’t we? Aren’t we?), I thought I’d bring this up.
Enough with this “cougars” nonsense. It’s offensive.
I’m talking about this bit I saw in a N.Y. Post story about Katie Couric’s younger boyfriend:
Odds are Couric the cougar - a lighthearted term for older women who devour younger men - hopes the same.
Cougar? COUGAR?
I’m no Katie Couric fan, in fact, I think her style of journalism is more suited to Access Hollywood. But for crying out loud, people, quit making up “cute” (i.e., disparaging) names for women who do what men have been doing for centuries.
